flipflop wines: to each, their own
With flipflop wines, we have embraced the movement toward individualistic expression, instead of manufacturing wines into some cookie-cutter style that’s all the rage. Our goal is to craft expressive, well-balanced wines that evoke just what the grapes inside intended, without being over-wrought or over-explained, and that can be enjoyed at any occasion.
David Georges, Vintner
While working at an organic vegetable farm in the Mt. Shasta region of California, David discovered the art of grape growing. After planting a small vineyard on the farm, he was fascinated with wine, from managing the vineyard to tasting the fruits of his labor. Inspired to learn more, David attended the University of California at Davis first to study viticulture, and then added winemaking coursework as well. David honed his winemaking skills at well-known California wineries including Artesa and Davis Bynum.
In 2009, David began working on the wines that would become the inaugural vintage of flipflop. His goal is to stay true to each wine’s varietal character, and to make great tasting wines that don’t break the bank.
flipflop Wines have partnered with Soles4Souls Inc., the international shoe charity dedicated to providing free footwear to those in need. The program will raise much needed funds to give one pair of flip-flop sandals for each bottle of flipflop wine purchased (up to 100,000 pairs for the first 100,000 bottles sold, where promotion is legal. We were given the opportunity to review flipflop Wines Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. I am a big fan of white wines and this Chardonnay is delicious! Just the right mixture of flavors. Not too Oaky, or fruity it has a good balance! The Cabernet Sauvignon was shared with our neighbors over dinner and they enjoyed it! They said the aftertaste was not too harsh but clean. For me is was just a little too spicy, I could really taste the Black Pepper notes but then again I am a white wine person!! Everyone else loved the Cab and was completely surprised when I told them the price was only $7 a bottle… yep you read that right!! I just don’t think you can go wrong with these wines!! They taste yummy, the prices are GREAT, and they are involved in charity work!! What more could you ask for!! The picture is of the Chardonnay we enjoyed (the Cabernet was gone too fast to get a pic!!). Like my wine glass (mine is the mason jar- hehe)! We give flip flop wines two thimbs up and definitely recommend flipflop Wines to any and all wine lovers out there!!

Disclosure: I was given the opportunity to review for flipflop Wines. I received a bottle of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon for review purposes only. I was not compensated to write a positive or favorable review. This is Keeping Up With The Rheinlander’s personal opinion.
